Located on the northwestern shore of Lake Michigan, the town/city is the governmental center of county of Kewaunee County. Kewaunee is part of the Green Bay Metropolitan Statistical Area.

According to the United States Enumeration Bureau, the town/city has a total region of 4.29 square miles (11.11 km2), of which, 3.54 square miles (9.17 km2) is territory and 0.75 square miles (1.94 km2) is water. As of the census of 2010, there were 2,952 citizens , 1,278 homeholds, and 733 families living in the city.

The populace density was 833.9 inhabitants per square mile (322.0/km2).

There were 1,462 housing units at an average density of 413.0 per square mile (159.5/km2).

The ethnic makeup of the town/city was 96.6% White, 0.3% African American, 0.3% Native American, 0.4% Asian, 1.1% from other competitions, and 1.1% from two or more competitions.
