Onalaska, Wisconsin Onalaska is a town/city in La Crosse County, Wisconsin, United States.
A man-made reservoir at the city's edge is known as Lake Onalaska.
In Alaska, the undivided day town/city of Unalaska and Unalaska Island are linked to the Onalaskas through Thomas Campbell's poem.
According to the United States Enumeration Bureau, the town/city has a total region of 10.73 square miles (27.79 km2), of which 10.13 square miles (26.24 km2) is territory and 0.60 square miles (1.55 km2) is water. Onalaska lies immediately north of La Crosse, on the Black River.
It is the second biggest city in La Crosse County.
Named streams inside the current city-limits of the town/city include the Black River, the La Crosse River and Sand Lake Coulee Creek.
In the 1930s, the assembly of Lake Onalaska resulted in the flooding and eventual disappearance of a shallow, natural body of water, Rice Lake, and a several smaller ponds in the Black River bottoms area.
Brice Prairie is an urban reserve region inside the City of Onalaska, positioned below the ridge on which most of the town/city is situated.
It lies to the northwest of the city's current northern border, and is directly on Lake Onalaska.
According to 2009-2013 ACS estimates, the median homehold income was $55,982 and the median family income was $74,182.

In the city, the populace was spread out with 26.2% under the age of 18, 8.8% from 18 to 24, 29.9% from 25 to 44, 23.9% from 45 to 64, and 11.3% who were 65 years of age or older.
The median income for a homehold in the town/city was $47,800, and the median income for a family was $57,264.

Onalaska Omni Center is Onalaska's meeting hall and indoor arena.
